Our Lady of La Leche

October is the month of the feast day of Our Lady of La Leche.  I first heard about Our Lady of La Leche when it was featured in the Inquirer two years ago.  I haven't exactly become a devotee but have become more aware of her because of her connection with breastfeeding.  Also, fellow advocate Claire (and Batch 3 peer counselor trainee) is quite active in identifying where the various images are enshrined.  In fact, she has collected several photographs of Our Lady which I'm sharing with her permission below:

Claire also compiled a list of churches in the Archdiocese of Manila where the image has been enshrined.  Her list includes:
1) Church of the Immaculate Conception in Intramuros; 2) Espiritu Santo Church in Rizal Ave., Sta. Cruz; 3) St. Joseph Pro-Cathedral in Camp Crame, QC; 4)Church of Sta.Clara* in Pasay City; 5) Santuario de San Jose* in Greenhills; 6) Our Lady of Loreto Church in Sampaloc; 7) San Roque Church near Boni Ave., Mandaluyong; 8) Holy Family Parish on Faraday St., Makati. 9) Shrine of Jesus, The Way, The Truth and the Life near MOA and the 10) chapel in Harrison Plaza.
For pregnant and breastfeeding Catholic moms, this would be a good list to follow when you do your Visita Iglesia on Holy Thursday.

Meanwhile, for this month, the feast day of Our Lady of La Leche is on October 11, 2011.  Another Batch 3 trainee, Bianca, has gotten in touch with the Our Lady of La Leche Movement and created an event page for the feast day.
Our Lady of La Leche is the patron of mothers and mothers-to-be. She intercedes for those who want to conceive, for the safe delivery of the pregnant and for the milk flow of breastfeeding mothers.
This is a special invitation for pregnant and breastfeeding moms. The Feastday of Our Lady of La Leche will be on Oct 11. This will be celebrated through a mass at the Harrison Plaza chapel, where a special blessing will be given to you, and the first 9 breastfeeding or pregnant moms to confirm here will be given blessed statues of Our Lady of La Leche to take home:-)
I've asked Bianca to share her experience with the movement and you should be seeing her guest post in this blog in the next couple of days.

thank you for sharing, honestly, I didn't know that there exists such a title for our Mother.but now that I am aware, I can share to my friends and true indeed a very good idea for the next Visita Iglesia.

Sayang if I just live in Manila, I would love to go to HP and attend the mass, would even confirm to volunteer...

God bless!

I am familiar with Our Lady of La Leche.  A nephew of mine bought me a novena booklet when I was still pregnant.  I prayed it then, and continued to pray to Our Lady to give me more milk after I gave birth.  She granted my request!  I've been exclusively breastfeeding my son who is almost a year old now :)
