Review and Giveaway: Changing Diapers

My first born N had been semi-cloth diapered and I do admit that at that time I thought that cloth diapering a baby at night and when going out was quite impossible.  The book Changing Diapers was released in October 2011.  I waited for the Black Friday sale and hurriedly purchased 3 copies - for myself, E's ninang Jen plus 1 more extra copy.

It was my first time to see a book dedicated to cloth diapering and I was quite excited.  The book was written by Kelly Wels, a cloth diapering advocate who used to own the diaper store Kelly's Closet.
Released in October 2011, this book was the perfect read while I was pregnant with E.
What I love about the book is that it is very reader friendly.  It deciphers the cloth diapering terms - AIOs, hybrids, snappis, prefolds, hemp, etc. and helped me decide which diapers to purchase for baby E. I especially liked the section on what's inside a disposable diaper (page 22) - yikes!

step by step guide to laundering
If you are new to cloth diapering or even just thinking about it - get this book! With its lovely photos and excellent illustrations, it will help you wade through the cloth diapering world and succeed 24/7.  [The photos of cute diapers would be enough to convince any hip mom to cloth diaper!!] The book even tackles cloth diapering in the hospital setting and shares anecdotes from dads.  For example, Jack's dad shares his Dads' Dirty Dozen on Cloth Diapering - and this is something you can share with your bub's dad, too! Wondering if you can cloth diaper even when traveling or when you have multiples?  Changing Diapers has answers to those questions.
Even if you are already a cloth diapering mom, this book is an excellent reference especially for laundering diapers from removing odors, stains, storing.  The book also lists several cloth diaper brands -- not too good -- as it added to my fluff shopping list!
Have a doubting friend? Lend her your copy of this book and it will definitely change her mind about cloth diapering!
Want your own copy? You can purchase one from Amazon or Kelly Wel's website.  OR you can join this giveaway through Rafflecopter! As I mentioned, I have 1 extra copy which I'd love to share to my readers.    So join now!
Contest starts on 12 April 2012 and will end on 21 April 2012.  Limited to participants with Philippine addresses.

Jenny, we're 8 weeks preggers with Baby Number 2 (aka Pippa)! Yay! I was only able to semi-cloth diaper Joaquin and would want to try cloth diapering Pippa 24/7. I'm sure this book would give my courage a boost to do just that for Pippa.

Our baby Likha has diaper rash now and I have been advised to use disposables only during nighttime. I also bought tushy-wushy cloth diapers but  only a set of three because it's quite expensive then. It would be a great treat if I'll know more about cloth diapering through that book. :)

i am a first time mom and I am curious in cloth diapers although I have not started using it for my son, and I think this book will be a big help to really encourage me more (aside from my mommy friends who is hooked in cloth diapers).  Plus, I can share this book to my cousin who will be delivering her first child on August2012.

I think this book is an excellent  tool for a mom like me who has no idea about cloth diapers. I have read several blogs about cloth diapering, and I am very interested but I just dont know how to go about it. I need an "Idiots guide to cloth diapers" kinda book :)

Would love to read this book! And learn more about how to never go back to using disposable ones. Thanks for this opportunity Jenny! :)

I already am a cloth diapering mom, part time though on our 15 month old, but i would really want to go full-time on our 2nd baby (currently 8 months in)! Been tediously researching for different brands and nappy systems that would fit our lifestyle (and our heavy wetting toddler) but there are just too many!!! This book would certainly help, guide, and enlighten us more on this advocacy. Go, go, go cloth nappies!!!! NOTHIN BUTT CLOTH shall touch our bubbas bums!!!! :)

I'm a first time mom to a baby boy and I'm due this May! I'm interested in cloth diapering my son with the benefits I've read about - less rashes, economical, and more environment friendly. I would like to learn more about it so I can share it with the moms who consult me in the clinic (I'm a medical intern/ soon to be licensed physician this August).

I tried cloth diaper but I failed. I thought it would be hard because I was breastfeeding. I wanted to learn everything I could so that my next child would benefit in cloth diapering!

I have an 8-month old daughter and I've been considering cloth diapers but I still have reservations about it, especially the washing part :( . Perhaps having this book will encourage / convince me (and my hubby) to go into it ;)

Would love to be the proud owner of this book..  My 6-month baby boy and I are daytime cloth diaper users for a month now.  Hopefully through this book we can shift to 24/7 use!  Also we would be sharing our experience with other breastfeeding and non-breastfeeding friends and neighbors so we can encourage them to shift to cloth.  Our family's aim is to be eco-friendly advocates!

Would love to win this! Researching for info online is great, but nothing beats having all the info down in paper and compiled into a book for easy reading and referencing!

My husband and I just started cloth diapering last weekend and so far we're not having any problems with frequent changing. However, the laundering is the great challenge.  With a limited number of flats and covers and one bamboo dappy (which we only bought for trial), we have to wash the soiled ones right after each use. Inno will be christened next month and we're planning a dappy-themed reception and our registry prioritized on cloth diapering essentials since we want to CD 24/7 already. :) The book will be of great help to us since Inno doesn't have a personal yaya and we wash the dappies by ourselves, plus we want to be enlightened more (lalo na my hubby) with CD-ing so we could really go full-time and totally cut the costs for disposables. :)

My first-born was also semi cloth diapered...Stopped with my second, though, because of no- helper--laundering- CD issues... but reading your real diaper carnival blog entries inspired me to try CDs again...

I want a copy of the book because I want to learn more about cloth diapering and would like to use cloth diapers all the way for my next baby (we used cloth diapers for my first born during the day till she was 7months old. like you, i also thought using cloth diapers during nighttime and when we're out is impossible).

Janice Lim said...

I have been wanting to try cloth diapering on my baby but I have a lot of hesitations, mostly because I don't much about it. I want a copy of this book because I want to know which kind of cloth diapers to buy and how to transition properly from using disposables. I know that in the long run, we would be able to save more money if we cloth diaper our baby. Most importantly, though, I know using cloth diapers will be more comfortable and beneficial to our baby.
