A Mother's Commitment: Giving without Counting the Cost (a Johnson's Baby Sponsored Post)

I previously shared with you how I admired Johnson & Johnson as a company especially when it comes to taking care of their employees.  I am even happier to report that in contrast with other multinationals, J&J certainly lives up to their ethics - to listen to their consumers.  So when their consumers raised their concerns about certain ingredients in their products, J&J took action and announced that they will reformulate their products.

According to the Environmental Working Group, "Johnson & Johnson is the first major personal care products manufacturer to take such an important action in favor of its customers' safety."  In fact, EWG has a petition to thank Johnson & Johnson for its action.

Thus, when J&J approached me to support their Johnson's Baby Complete Care campaign, I agreed because I do admire them as a company.  I am also grateful that they listened to the voice of the consumers, showing that the company is not just out to gain profits but truly wants the consumers to be happy with their products.

Plus they come out with meaningful ads that touch a mom to the core:

When I was younger, my mom kept telling me about how they (my dad and her) would do everything within their power to help us fulfill our dreams and desires.  I did not understand this selfless sacrifice before N & E.  Like the mom in the Johnson's Baby TVC, everything changes when a woman becomes a mother.  There is nothing that we won't do for our children and we will do everything in our power to protect them and give them the best.

Michelle and baby Peter
The Johnson's Baby TVC reminded me of the experiences of two moms in the breastfeeding community.  The first mom, Michelle had twin baby boys, Philip and Peter, who were born prematurely at 27 weeks after a difficult pregnancy.  Philip passed on, while Peter had to stay at the NICU for 2 months.  During Peter's NICU stay, Michelle worked hard to build her milk supply.  Despite the heart wrenching loss of Philip, Michelle plodded on, expressing milk every 2 to 3 hours, round the clock, on top of NICU visits to Peter.  Michelle did this because she knew that her breastmilk would help Peter graduate quickly from the NICU.  Because of her efforts, Michelle was also able to store more milk than Peter could consume and generously donated the milk to other babies, including babies of the Human Milk for Human Babies - The Philippines.

The second mom, Mel Menes, has an admirable advocacy.  Even while pregnant with her baby, Mel knew that the chances of her baby's survival were not good because of congenital diaphragmatic hernia.  Her baby, Kat, passed on shortly after birth.  Despite this, she committed to continue giving milk to other babies who were also in the NICU like Kat.  Mel has also been donating milk to the babies of the Human Milk for Human Babies - The Philippines.  Mel continues to do this so her baby's memory can live on through her breastmilk donation.  You can read her full story in Babymama's Facebook page and watch her interview below.

What sacrifices or things that you have done that you never thought you would be able to do so before you had kids?
