Lawyers are jacks of all trades! In fact, a lot of my lawyer friends are now veering away from traditional lawfirm practice.  Most are in alternative lawyering, business, photography, government, environment, surfing, blogging, etc.  I'm one example - from focusing on pleadings, opinions, my time is now on my business, family and promoting, supporting and protecting breastfeeding, particularly the implementation of the Milk Code.

I recently met another lawyer who has a successful second career.  Tina de Guzman, a development professional and lawyer, works in an NGO implementing judicial reform, human rights and anti-trafficking programs.  Together with her husband Reindl, they set up "Fluffy Pwets," the first ever hybrid fitted diapers in the country.

Phew! I'm in the middle of a career change and although I decided not to work full time this summer, I feel as if I am busier than ever.  I realize that ferrying the kids to their summer classes and doing activities with them take up a lot of time.  I know I haven't written a lot for the past couple of months and I hope to make up for this in the 2nd half of 2014 (crossing my fingers!)

Dakasi: New Milk Tea Place + Giveaway!

Since I am trying to limit my caffeine intake, I am happy that there are now alternatives with the growing number of tea places in the Metro.  I first heard about Dakasi from Jen who discovered this milk tea during one of her trips to China.  I chanced upon their booth in Trinoma and tried their bubble milk tea.  As with other milk tea joints, you have the option to adjust the sweetness (I like my milk teas to be less sweet).  But what made the Dakasi Bubble Tea different was the size of their pearls.  The Dakasi pearls are smaller than average, allowing me to enjoy slurping them without risk of choking.

Earthbaby - pockets and AI2s plus a giveaway!

I am a cloth diaper addict. If you look at our cloth diaper closet, you will notice that we don't have more than 5 pieces of 1 brand/kind.  This is because I really enjoy trying out new diapers and diaper systems.  This makes cloth diapering fun (and expensive!!).  When I started cloth diapering N, there were only a couple of local brands available.  When it was E's turn, I noticed that more and more local brands have been developed and are now readily available in the market.

I am excited to introduce cloth diapering moms to a new local brand - Earth Baby Cloth Diapering System.  What makes this brand unique is that it carries two types of diapering systems - a pocket and all-in-two (AI2)!  Pocket diapers are fairly common so let me focus on the AI2 diaper.

New year, new resolutions.  Breastfeeding E has several advantages and a top advantage for me has been weight loss.  Would you believe that I now weigh even less than my pre-pregnancy weight?  However, since E has been eating more meals and I've started dropping pumps, I can feel the weight creeping back.  Yes, I try to control my food intake but I also realized that I need to do some physical activity to keep up with my active kids.

So, when my LATCH batchmate Monica Manzano offered me a giveaway for the blog, I immediately agreed.  Let's face it - we all need to be conscious of our health so we can ensure that we can be there for our kids for as long as possible.  I'm also pretty sure that my readers would be excited to join this giveaway.

Monica used to be based in Puerto Princesa, Palawan and has taken several yoga teacher training courses.  She moved to Manila last year and now teaches Yin, Vinyasa and Anti-Gravity Yoga at Beyond Yoga.  Beyond Yoga recently opened a branch in Bonifacio High Street - much closer to me!

New Baby Product and Giveaway: Beginnings Baby

The last quarter of 2012 was very hectic! I was invited to a Sparty by ARC Public Relations for Beginnings Baby which I unfortunately was not able to attend.  They still generously sent me the Press Kit for Beginnings Baby which included samples of the brand.  Because E is a giant baby, I couldn't try the products on him so I asked ARC if I could give them away on the blog instead and happily, they agreed.

E has been sick often these past month.  I brought him to his homeopathic pediatrician who is also into anthroposophic medicine. She shared that the energy of a person is low close to his/her birthday.  No wonder.  This time, E has upper respiratory infection and because he can't cough out his phlegm, he has been feverish.  He also alternates between having a stuffed and runny nose.  To alleviate his discomfort, I use Baby ComfyNose - a nasal aspirator which you operate by sucking one end of the tube.  Sounds icky but it works!  I purchased this product online some months ago but since E generally has excellent health, I was only able to use it recently.

Introducing Mommy Mundo SoMoms

During the early days of N, the internet was my best friend.  I was always chatting with friends especially about breastfeeding and newborn care.   I also didn't work for the first 6 months of N's life and found that I had too much time on my hands.  I was micromanaging our household and bugging S to death.  I decided to bring in nursing bras because I noticed that there were very limited options locally available.

Mom targeted bazaars excite me!  As a shopper I prefer to attend bazaars that have products specifically for moms.  We know how limited shopping time moms get so I really want to maximize whatever bazaar visit I make.  Coming up this November is one such bazaar - Babypalooza Bazaar scheduled on 30 November 2012.
